No, I don't want a vacation.  And no I don't want sand between my toes.  I simply want some warm sunshine.  Is that too much to ask for?  It's almost April and it's still freezing!  What's up with that?!?

Special Delivery

Oh!!  Look what fun "little" packages I received today!

I already busted into this one.  I couldn't contain my excitement.  I'm thinking about putting it together, but I'm resisting because I have some pretty important work that needs to be finished up.

26 weeks

How many weeks?:   26 weeks

What's going to happen at your doctor's appointment tomorrow?: Tomorrow will be the dreaded Glucose screening.  Seriously, not looking forward to it!  I have to go without eating two hours before my appointment and then I have to drink a super nasty sugar water.  Then a few hours later I have to get my blood drawn.  Uggh!  I hate needles more than anything else!  I will have my fingers crossed the whole time that I don't have gestational diabetes!  I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to stick myself on a daily basis!

What is going on with your eating habits?: Well, I've recently been on a fresh food, healthy, semi-anti-meat phase.  Don't get me wrong, I still like meat and I'm still very much a carnivore, but I don't eat it nearly as much as I use to.  I would normally eat it at every meal.  Now, I can go a few days without eating any.  I don't know if it's the warmer weather, the pregnancy or all of the recent food research I've been doing for one of the companies I work for.  I think it maybe a combo of all of them, but a little more of the last.  I think the most influential piece to me (so far) has been this documentary, Food Matters. I don't necessarily agree with everything in it, but they do make some extremely good points and raise some major questions in the movie!

Here it is!  This is the necklace I want!  I had mentioned last week that I really love the small charm necklaces and that I was on the look out for a small cross charm one.  Well this is the one I was looking for.  It's by Roseark and it's so cute and charming!!

The other day Madison wanted to go into the Gap and while she was looking at her clothing, I snuck over to the baby department.  It was love at first sight!  Seriously, the baby Gap hit a homerun when it comes to their Spring line!  It took every inch of my will power not to buy something!  But, I WILL be returning soon to purchase some of these amazing clothes!

25 weeks

How many weeks?:   25 weeks

Is there anything that you want to do but can't right now?: Yes!  Whiten my teeth!  How crazy is that...I can't even whiten my teeth while I'm pregos.  Wear heels.  All of my heels have been put into retirement for awhile now.  I feel too off-balanced in them right now. Eat Sushi!  Oh how I miss my raw fish rolls!!!

Go ahead, vent about all your bodily pains?: Okay, while my husband was visiting a friend in Indy last weekend (I oked it). I painted the entire nursery room and closet, cleaned out all of the front flower beds out side and rearranged the living room furniture to accommodate my "office space"........ALL BY MYSELF.  (Well, Madison helped me move the furniture).  Needless to say, I over did it; completely my fault, and now I'm suffering from it!  My legs are so sore and my back is in all kinds of knots!  Thank goodness my hubby is so generous with the back rubs each night!!

Oh, bring this bad boy on!!  I seriously don't think that my sleep can get any worse than what it is right now!  But this magical pillow that they call Back 'N Belly Pregnancy Pillow may just do the trick!

And we're one step closer....

My dear, wonderful husband was nice enough to take all of my office items out of the spare room so I could paint this past weekend (while he visited a friend and stayed out too late).  :)  I think it was a fair trade though.  (He's awful at painting...even though he thinks he's good).

So here's what the room looked like...

As you can see, there was 3 large black floating shelves on one side, the original curtain rod with some blue curtains that hung on the window and a black filing cabinet with a dry erase calendar hung above it to the right.

This wall was the challenge wall.  I originally painted this wall with blackboard paint.  It was awesome to have while it was an office.  But doesn't really work in a nursery room.  So the challenge....how in the heck do you paint over black?!?!  3 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint....I was not about to go through that much trouble.  Casey thought it was impossible too.  And so our bet came to be.  I bet him that I could paint that wall with 2 coats of paint and no primer.  He just laughed at me and shook my hand.  Little did he know that I saw a commercial for some Valspar paint that guaranteed to cover anything in one coat.  I bet Casey two coats...just to cover my own butt.

There is a vent where the big hole is at the top of this wall.  I took it off so I could paint underneath it.  The previous owners just painted around it, so it took a little prying to get it off the wall.  Once I took it off, there was quite a bit of dust in there....GROSS!!  I'm still considering having someone come in and clean out all of our vents!

The door to the left leads to the hallway and the door to the right is the closet door.  The blue wall was suppose to be my inspiration wall, but I never got around to finishing it.  Right now I have 9 carpet squares from CB2 that I was going to use as a bulletin board on this wall.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with them now?!?

And we are back around to the beginning wall.

So, after much contemplation and looking over the nursery bedding, I decided to go with a pale pink color.  I wanted a barely there pink, just a wash.  So Madison and I went to Lowe's to pick out a color.  We picked out a pink that was a little "pinker" than what I wanted, mostly because that's the one Madison liked but also because I wanted to be able to see the pink and it not look too washed out.

Once we got home, my painting assistant (Madison) pooped out on me quite early.  Needless to say, I did 90% of this room completely by myself.  Overall, the Valspar Hi-Def formula really did the trick!!  I was amazed at the coverage.  I'm pretty sure that the paint has some primer in it and that's why it covered so well.  The paint was extremely thick and unfortunately we had to buy 2 gallons to do the nursery room and the closet.  One gallon of normal paint would have easily covered the square footage...but with the black wall, I didn't want to take any chances.

So....voile....the final result.
At first, I didn't like the color.  It was a pink overload to me!  But as I kept peaking in the room and looking at it and visualizing everything else in the room, I began to calm down a little.  I'm just going to have to be careful and not put too much more pink in there, at least not pale pink.

I still have some touch ups to do on the trim, it should take too long so I'm not too worried about it.  And all of the electric outlets and the light switch will soon be replaced as well.  Right now they are all off-white.  I want them to be switched to white.  (There are some other original light cover switches in our house that need to be switched.  They are gold!  I mean really gold, like metallic, shiny gold!  Gag me!!!)

And here's the view of the wall and inside the closet.  Now that it's painted we can soon install the closet system!  Hooray!!

How stinkin' cute are these!  I've never heard of this illustrator, Trafalgar's Square, but I'm already a huge fan!  I love the whimsical look of these.  So playful and lovable.  These are in the running for the nursery....BIG time!!!!

24 weeks

How many weeks?:   24 weeks

What are some pregnancy pains that you've experienced?: Charley Horses!!  OMG!!  I've never really had Charley Horses before, but oh, they have been killing me lately!  The only time I get them is in the middle of the night.  I will wake up and have the urge to stretch my legs, but as soon as I do....cramps!!!  They are so painful that I have to fully wake myself out and rub them.  The thing I don't understand is that I've been on a huge banana kick lately...shouldn't the potassium prevent this?  Time to call the ole' doctor and ask her!

What are some pregnancy joys that you've experienced?: Casey finally felt the baby move the other night.  It was exciting for me to see him excited!  It was just another boring night at the household, but the baby was all sorts of wiggly.  So I grabbed his hand and placed it where she was laying and then she kicked his hand...hard!  I think it scared him a little 'cause he jumped.  LOL  But ever since then, it's been nothing but hands on the belly at night (that's when she's the most active).

I really love the tini tiny charm necklaces that are in style right now.  They just seem to go with everything.  This cute little emerald necklace is by Edor, on non other than my favorite site to shop from....Etsy!  :)

I've been really on the look out for this style but with a simple cross charm.  If anyone finds one, let me know....please!!!

HAPPY 9th BIRTHDAY

Well, technically it was yesterday.  It's been a long couple weeks here in the household with the count down to Madison's 9th Birthday.  To say she was excited would be an understatement.  On top of the birthday count down was the bike purchase that we promised her.

The morning started out with Casey wishing our dearest a Happy Birthday.  Following immediately was the entrance to my bedroom where Madison woke me up.  The alarm hadn't even gone off, but she had to inform me that Casey was the first person to tell her Happy Birthday.  I'm not sure if that was just an observation on her part, or to let me know that I wasn't fast enough.  Regardless, she crawled into bed and we chatted for a few minutes before the alarm went off.  She then jumped up and proceeded to put the outfit on that she picked out the night before - this NEVER happens - along with taking extra time to get ready AND putting some jewelry on.  As she got ready she reminded me, for the 50th time, not to forget to bring a cookie cake to school for her classmates.

I met Madison for our ritual lunch birthday date along with some good 'ole McDonald's.  No school lunch for my birthday girl!  We even got to eat in the Eagle's Nest (an area where the kids can eat if they've been extra good that week or if they have a visitor eating with them.)  We discussed what she had done in the day so far, whispered some secrets and enjoyed our lunch.  After that the class met in her classroom to get their coats and we went outside to eat some cookie cake.

Before the kids ate their cake, they got in a circle and sang Happy Birthday to Madison, cha cha cha and all!  They engulfed their cookie and scattered onto the playground....recess time!

As soon as Madison came home the count downs continued.  This time it was a count down until Casey came home.  The question of, "What time is it now?" continued every 15 minutes....boy was I happy when Casey got home!  Casey could barely change his clothes before Madison was dragging him out of the house to pick out her bike!  She informed us that she knew exactly which one she wanted, so it wouldn't take very long.   When we got to the store, the bike she had picked out was too small and we had to convince her that she needed a larger size.  So the statement that it wouldn't take very long, took a little longer than anticipated.  In the end, Madison became a very proud owner of a mountain bike...look out off roads!

To finish the night off, we went to our favorite local restaurant, Festa Mexicana and indulged our grumbling tummies!  All in all, a very good birthday!
